ICT bill acceptor error codes, by model

The same flash-code tables printed on the back of ICT stacker boxes, in one searchable page. Pick your model, count the flashes, and find the fix.

Find your error code

Choose your ICT model, then type the number of flashes (for example 3+2) or a word like "jam" or "stacker".

Reading the label on an ICT stacker box

When an ICT bill acceptor stops taking money, it tells you why with a blinking LED. ICT prints a troubleshooting chart on the stacker (bill box) label so a route tech can match the blink pattern to a fault without opening the manual. Labels fade, get scratched, or go missing when boxes are swapped between machines, so this page collects every chart in one place.

Each table below is transcribed from the troubleshooting chapter of ICT's official installation guide for that model, with a link to the source PDF.

Fix the most common codes first

2 flashes: disabled

Usually a setting, not a broken unit. Check the DIP switches against the sheet for your interface and confirm the game board is enabling the validator.

3 or 3+2: sensors

Dust, lint and tape residue are the usual cause. Power down, open the bill path and clean the sensors and security hook, then recalibrate with the white card if accuracy drops.

5, 6 or 8: stacker

Seat the bill box fully until it latches, and empty it if it is full. On the PA7, stacker full is 8 flashes. A recurring stacker code after emptying points to the stacker motor or gears.

Frequently asked questions

Where are the error codes on an ICT bill acceptor?

Most ICT validators print the troubleshooting table on a label on the bill box (stacker). The code itself is shown by an LED: on the A6, A6E and V7 it is the back LED next to the bill box; on the PA7E, TAO-A, TK77, L70, S7A and XBA it is the bezel LED on the front.

How do I read a code like 3+2?

Count three flashes, a short pause, then two flashes. The pattern repeats. 3+2 on most ICT models means a hook sensor error.

What does 2 flashes mean on an ICT bill acceptor?

Two flashes means the unit is disabled (inhibited). On most models it is a DIP switch or game-board enable setting, not a hardware failure.

Why is the stacker full code different on the PA7?

The PA7/PA7-U table uses 8 flashes for stacker error or stacker full, and 5 flashes when the stacker is removed. Most other ICT models use 6 flashes for stacker full.

Still showing an error?

If the code returns after the corrective action, the unit may need parts or a bench repair.

Manuals and support files
Error code tables are reproduced from ICT installation guides for reference. Always confirm against the label and manual that shipped with your unit, as tables can vary by firmware and hardware revision.
